A- Ask for Help

Have you ever wondered where the day went? You look up and suddenly it is evening, and the day has seemingly disappeared. How does that happen? Where does time go? Habits are the most difficult to form and the easiest to break, but they are necessary for you to command your day and make sure that you have gotten the most out of it that you possibly can.

So, what are habits? More importantly, what are habits that allow you to optimize your time and complete your goals? Anyone can take command of their day and master their habits. Maybe it is stepping out of the usual routine for a second, or a change of scenery. Let’s explore what the letters of H.A.B.I.T.S stand for.

The letter “A” stands for “Ask for Help”

As a leader, it might seem that you always need to have all of the answers. That is not true. The reality is that you need to ask for help just as much as everyone else and asking for help is not bad. You cannot know everything and it perfectly okay to go ask others for answers to questions that you cannot answer on your own.

It goes both ways, sometimes you know more about a topic, a project, or simply you just have the answer to a question that someone is looking for. Do not be afraid to ask questions. It is something that each of us struggle with, but something to grow and learn in. Give grace to yourself when you go ask for questions and give grace to others as they come to you.

As a leader you must learn to delegate. To delegate means to give work to another person that you might not have the time, energy, or knowledge to complete on your own. That is what makes you a good leader. Not a soft leader, or an unknowledgeable leader, but someone that is trustworthy and effective.

Bringing people into your team and your projects makes your team more effective. You will not be looked down on for asking questions, instead you will gain influence within your team and the people you work with because you will be gaining knowledge and incite to make your work more effective.

Effective tools gain you influence in both work and life and knowingly practicing them helps you to be an effective leader in your community. We all strive to be great leaders and to work under great leaders. Growing influence is easier than one might think!
